European Day of Languages is the perfect opportunity to have a look at Comenius project partners
The early morning of the 24th of September in Bagaslaviskis school. The bell rings and unusual buzzing appears in the hallway and classrooms. What’s happening here today?
Today the European Day of Languages is celebrated. From the beginning of the school year our school takes part in international Comenius project ‘Past, Presents and Future in European Culture’, sponsored by European commission. Our partners are students from Scoala cu clasele I-VIII nr 4 Moreni from Romania, Sou Nokola Yonkov Vaptzarov, Suvorovo from Bulgaria, Kunda’s coeducational gymnasium from Estonia, Publiczne gymnasium Nr. 1, Opole from Poland and 11 Mart Ilkogretim Okulu, Bingol from Turkey.
We wanted to know our partners better so we dedicated this day to countries taking part in the project. Every class chose different country and created presentation about it. The Day of European languages started with parade with flags. Later students presented created posters and other activities in the hall of the school. 5th class students that day became Romanians. They even taught us few words in Romanian and invited all to enjoy traditional dance. 6th class students invited everyone to Estonia. They told us about Estonian flag, most important facts of the history and presented the anthem. Also gave some traditional Estonian sweets. 7th class students started talking Polish with their tutor. They taught some words us and then started singing so nicely that all people in the hall started clapping and dancing. 8th class students that morning were quests from Turkey. 9th class students invited everybody to watch TV show ‘Travel around the World’. The host Petras asked a lot of questions about Bulgaria. 10th class students presented Lithuania. They wore traditional clothes, danced and sang folk songs.
It is said that languages can open all doors. This day at Bagaslaviskis school students opened doors to six countries. In the future all of them are going to meet students from Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Poland and Turkey.
